Gas Market Characteristics

Gas market in Q1 2023: increase of deliveries from the LNG terminal and the European Union, strong growth of the average gas price at TGE.

Compared to the same period last year, the volume of high-methane gas flowing through the Polish transmission system decreased by 14.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2023. In contrast, gas supplies via the LNG terminal increased by over 39 per cent and gas supplies from the European Union by as much as around 59 per cent.

In the first three months of 2025, the average price of natural gas fuel in contracts concluded on TGE (the Polish Power Exchange) was over 21 per cent lower than in the same period of 2024. The prices quoted at the exchange were slightly higher than OTC prices. At the same time, prices in both markets were higher by nearly 180 per cent than in Q4 2020.

Gas market: the President of the URE approved a new gas sale tariff for PGNIG Obrót Detaliczny. From July 1, the gas price under this tariff drops by 14.8 per cent.

Gas market: The President of the URE is initiating consultation on discounts, multipliers and seasonal factors applicable to natural gas transmission tariffs for 2027.

The consultation, which runs from 1 September to 1 November 2025, concerns the natural gas transmission networks owned by the Gas Transmission Operators, Gaz-System and the Transit Gas Pipeline System of EuRoPol GAZ.

The consultation, which runs from 1 September to 1 November 2025, concerns the planned establishment of a single interconnected natural gas entry/exit system in Poland from 2027, comprising the networks belonging to the Gas Transmission Operator, Gaz-System and the Transit Gas Pipeline System of EuRoPol GAZ.
