The supplementary auction for energy supply in 2026 Q1 was won by 98 bids. The auction ended in the third round with a final price of 388.05 PLN/kW/year. The total volume of capacity obligations resulting from the contracts concluded for that quarter amounts to 2.02 GW.

The supplementary auction for energy supply in 2026 Q2 was won by 10 bids. The auction ended in the twelfth round with a final price of 37.24 PLN/kW/year. The contracted volume of capacity obligations for the second quarter is just over 0.087 GW.

The supplementary auction for 2026 Q3 was won by 10 bids in the twelfth round. The final price was 37.25 PLN/kW/year and the total volume of capacity obligations for that quarter is just over 0.093 GW.

In contrast, the supplementary auction for 2026 Q4, which already ended in the first round, was won by 115 bids. The final price was 487 PLN/kW/year and the contracted volume of capacity obligations for the 2024 Q4 is close to 2.39 GW.

The QtQ differences in prices and volumes of purchased power are caused by the demand level and the capacity offered by the bidders.

  • The power market has been established to secure the electricity supply by providing incentives for the development of new generating units — and the upgrade of existing ones — with the electricity demand being more flexible.
  • In power market auctions, prospective power suppliers bid with services to increase power supply or reduce power consumption during periods of electricity supply shortage. The auction system provides a competitive way of qualifying providers for such services.
  • The costs of the power market are offset with the power fee, which is billed to end consumers. In 2025, approximately 6.4bn PLN was allocated for power market funding, compared to 6.1bn PLN in 2024 and 5.3bn PLN in 2023. The cost of capacity obligations contracted during the 2026 main auction is around 2.8bn PLN.
  • Between 2021 and 2024, a total of more than 22.3bn PLN was paid to power suppliers under capacity contracts.
