RES: fourth entity in the Register of Energy Clusters

On 27 September 2024, Białostocki Klaster Energii-EKOOPER was entered as the fourth entity in the Register of Energy Clusters kept by the President of URE.

The cluster operates in the Białystok district and is made up of: Zabłudów Municipality, Bialystok University of Technology and the Medical University of Bialystok. The distribution system operator is PGE Dystrybucja and the cluster coordinator is Fundacja Zdrowe Miasto.

The Register of Energy Clusters maintained by the President of URE together with the new definition of a cluster have been in force since 1 January 2024 following to last year's amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources Act.

On 7 March 2024, the first entity to be entered in the register was the Ciechanów Energy Cluster. It is made up of: Ciechanów Municipality and the Ciechanów Combined Heat and Power Plant. On 30 July, it was followed by the listing of the Gliwice Energy Cluster formed by 10 entities, and on 23 September, by the Green Energy Turek Cluster, set up by the Turek Municipality and the local Municipal and Housing Company.

The registration is voluntary but give access to the support system offering such benefits as, for example, an exemption from the RES fee or the co-generation fee.

Who can get registered?

The entry in the registry is available to any energy cluster operating in the area of a county (powiat) or a maximum of five neighbouring municipalities, which includes at least one representative of the local government.
