Gas market: The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) approves an incremental capacity project for the Poland-Ukraine interconnections

The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) reviewed the application of Gas Transmission Operator Gaz-System and approved incremental capacity project proposals for the Poland-Ukraine interconnections[1] (direction from Poland to Ukraine). The solutions envisaged in the document have been consulted with the Ukrainian regulator –  The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine (NEURC).

The relevant capacity at the level of 3,095,890 kWh/h/y will be made available to the market as of the 2030/2031 gas year and will be offered in a yearly capacity auction for a period of 15 years.

The details of this and other decisions of the regulator concerning gas interconnections can be found in a dedicated section of the URE’s website.

[1] The aforementioned decision is based on Article 28(1) and (2) and Article 8(9), Article 25(1) of Regulation (EU) 2017/459 of 16 March 2017 establishing the Network Code on capacity allocation mechanisms in gas transmission systems and repealing Regulation (EU) No 984/2013.
