The President of the Energy Regulatory Office has approved three incremental capacity projects for the Poland-Germany and Poland-Czech Republic interconnection points

After having examined the applications of the Gas Transmission System Operator - Operator Gazociągów Przesyłowych GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. on 29 April 2021, the President of the URE approved two incremental capacity projects for the Poland-Germany Market Borders (E-GAS Transmission System - Trading Hub Europe and Polish Transit Gas Pipeline System Yamal/Wester Europe - Trading Hub Europe) and for the Border between Poland and the Czech Republic .

The bundled offer levels[1] will be available in the yearly capacity auctions for a 15-year period and will be made available to the market from the following gas year[2]:

  • 2026/2027: for the GCP interconnection point on the border between Poland (E-Gas Transmission System) and Germany (Trading Hub Europe) in the amount of 493 499 kWh/h/y;
  • 2027/2028: for the Mallnow interconnection point on the border between Poland TGPS (Transit Gas Pipeline System) and Germany (Trading Hub Europe) in the amount of 22,262,400 kWh/h/y;
  • 2028/2029: for the Cieszyn interconnection point on the border between Poland-Czech Republic in the amount of 1,143,000 kWh/h/y.

Approval of the above-mentioned capacity projects was preceded by a consultation process.

[1] "offer level” -  in accordance with Article 3(5) of Regulation (EU) 2017/459, means the sum of the available capacity and the respective level of incremental capacity offered for each of the yearly standard capacity products at an interconnection point.

[2] The period from 6:00 am on October 1 of a given year to 6:00 am on October 1 of the following year. The definition can be found in the SGT Gaz - System Transmission Network Code.
