Discussion on the regulatory policy and regulators’ role at the international conference in Cracow
Rector of the Jagiellonian University - Professor Karol Musioł officially opened the conference “Competitive and Integrated market as a guarantee of the EU energy security” - one of the most important in the energy field during the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The conference took place in the Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University. The event dedicated to key issues of the EU energy policy was organized by Energy Regulatory Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Treasury, in cooperation with the European Commission.

Around three hundred people took part in the opening session of the conference, among them representatives of the European institutions, ministries and regulators. Günther Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Energy also took part in the opening session. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of the infrastructural integration of regional markets that should lead towards the fully integrated internal market. Only after achieving the fully integrated market it will be possible to provide energy security and effectively negotiate the supply prices advantageous for citizens of the united Europe.
Professor Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament addressed the assembly through the video message. Maciej Kaliski - Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Mikołaj Budzanowski - Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Treasury also gave inaugural speeches.
