Market Monitoring Department

The Market Monitoring Department (DMR) is responsible for:

  • cooperating with the competent authorities in countering energy companies' practices that restrict competition, and manipulation on the electricity and gas markets;
  • carrying out the tasks of the President of URE resulting from Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency, including: ensuring the operation of the national register of market participants, cooperation with the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators, regulatory authorities of the Member States of the European Union or the Member States of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA), the competent authority for the protection of competition and consumers and the competent authority for the supervision of the financial market;
  •  
  • monitoring and investigating cases of manipulation or attempted manipulation of the wholesale energy market and unlawful use of inside information, including reporting suspected offences to the competent authorities;
  • verifying compliance by obliged entrepreneurs with their obligations in respect of paying the solidarity levy;
  • verifying that the information and statements made by electricity generators in their reports are factually correct;
  • verifying that the information and statements made by natural gas production companies in their reports are factually correct;
  • processing of requests for individual interpretations;
  • publication of: the average selling price of electricity on the competitive market, average selling price of electricity on the competitive market in the previous quarter, average quarterly price of electricity and average price of electricity for household customers.
