Prime Minister appointed a new President of Energy Regulatory Office
On 1 June 2011, Prime Minister Donald Tusk appointed Mr Marek Woszczyk as the President of URE.
Mr Woszczyk’s appointment to the position of the President of URE was preceded by the selection procedure conducted by the Ministry of Economy, concluded on 15 April 2011.
Marek Woszczyk held a position of Vice-President of the URE from 2007 overseeing the work of the Tariff Department, Department for Promotion of Competition and the Regional Branch Offices of the URE. On 22 December 2010 Mr Woszczyk became the Acting President of URE.

Marek Woszczyk has worked for URE continuously since April 1998. Between 1998 and 2007 he was Deputy Director of the Central Branch in Warsaw as well as the URE President’s plenipotentiary in European Regulators’ Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG) and Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA). From 2005 Mr Woszczyk was a member of Licensing Committee and from 2006 a member of ERRA General Assembly. On 18 May 2011 he became a member of the ERRA Presidium. Mr Woszczyk also represents URE in the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) and since 1 February 2011, as the first representative of the Polish Regulator, he was elected Vice President of the CEER Board of Directors.
The President of URE is a member of ACER Board of Regulators and takes part in the proceedings of Panel on Polish Nuclear Energy - advisory body to the Prime Minister.
Author of various publications on Energy Law. His work concerning regulation, tariffs and price-making mechanizms can be found in a collection “Prawo energetyczne. Komentarz” edited by M. Swora and Z. Muras (Wolters Kulwer, Warsaw 2010).
Marek Woszczyk was a researcher at a technical university; he graduated from Poland’s National School of Public Administration. In 2011 he received a diploma of Executive Master of Business Administration.
